Since I started blogging over two years ago, there’s one post I like to put out once every year – Top 5 Reasons to Live in Possum Kingdom.
As a Possum Kingdom REALTOR® agent, I love getting to share all that this great area has to offer. The sense of community, feeling like you’re always on a weekend getaway, and the fact that there’s always something to do are just a few of benefits that Possum Kingdom has to offer. Check out some of the others below!
Possum Kingdom Lake has over 18,000 acres of water and 310 miles of shoreline making it a favorite spot for fishermen throughout the southwest. The rocky bluffs and underwater ledges with aquatic vegetation makes this lake a diverse habitat for the many species of fish including bass, crappie, channel, blue, and flathead catfish.
Possum Kingdom State Park
Located in the rugged canyons of Palo Pinto adjacent to Possum Kingdom Lake and the Brazos River Valley, this state park is home to some of the best camping in the state. Park goers enjoy watching the white-tailed deer graze, participating in the some of the best fishing in the southwest, and taking the boat out for some scuba diving and snorkeling. Listed as one of the best places to stay in Possum Kingdom for visitors, many park goers will stay overnight in one of the air-conditioned cabins while others chose to enjoy nature at by renting a water and electric camp site.
Another favorite of mine is the Lush Resort. Also, listed as a great place to stay for a visit, many Possum Kingdom residents enjoy coming here to just relax and have a good time. The bar and grill offers breathtaking views of the lake and is the perfect place to enjoy some great food and let your worries drift away. Many will schedule time in the spa for a massage while others like spending their time in the lakefront swimming pool.
Possum Kingdom is a community that enjoys staying active. From biking and hiking the 16-mile trail off LaVailla Road, to fishing and swimming on the lake, there is always a way to keep in shape. Not only does Possum Kingdom offer an abundance of physical activities, but they’re also know for their yearly festivals. From the annual Mardi Gras Parade to fireworks over the lake, there is something for everyone to enjoy!
